Granite

Granite is a hard, durable material that is not susceptible to scratches and withstands normal wear and tear very well. Granite can take heat without being damaged or weakened, so hot pans can be moved from stovetop or oven directly to countertop with no problem. This also makes granite a popular choice for bathrooms where curling irons or other hot devices are often used.

When properly sealed, granite is extremely stain-resistant and will not absorb liquids. Sealing is recommended every 4 to 5 years. The process is fairly easy and can be performed by Great Lakes Granite Works.
